Carlos Tevez's £230,000 a week wages too much for Milan Carlos Tevez priced himself out of a move to Inter Milan, according to the Italian club’s sporting director.
Marco Branca has confirmed the Serie A giants were interested in signing the City skipper, who last season hinted he wanted a move to Italy or Spain.
But Tevez was unwilling to give up his £230,000-a-week wages at City and Inter simply cannot compete with that.
Branca said: “Tevez is a great player, a great character, but absolutely no. His salary means it is out of the question.
“He is a great player but a move for him is out of the question. We have to organise our finances for the financial fair play rules in the next two years.”
Branca also said City and United are both wasting their time in pursuing Wesley Sneijder, claiming the Dutch ace is happy in Milan.
City have already distanced themselves from any move for Inter striker Samuel Eto’o, a former target, but Branca says he is also expected to stay at San Siro.
“Sneijder and Eto’o are great players who can change a game in a moment,” he said. “So it is normal that great teams should be thinking about them, but they are happy here and I don’t think they want to leave. We certainly don’t want them to.”
City are still hoping a final £32m bid for Alexis Sanchez may prise the player out of the grip of Barcelona.
The Blues made one last attempt to thwart Barca, who are not prepared to go above £22m plus Jeffren Suarez for the winger leaving Udinese denying the player permission to speak to the Catalans.
If accepted, a City offer would allow them access to Sanchez but it remains to be seen whether the player will agree to talk to the Blues.
